Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green called on people to join her in protesting the impeachment of former President Donald Trump — after Trump himself refrained from doing so in his latest scathing remark.
The outspoken conservative, who this week rallied in favor of the defendants jailed on Jan. 6, whom she described as political prisoners, made the call hours after the historic indictment sealed by a Manhattan grand jury.
I’m going to New York on Tuesday. We must protest against the unconstitutional witch hunt! she tweeted.
Her comment comes as members of the New York Police Department prepared to confront any civil unrest, while Trump’s lawyers negotiated with prosecutors to turn himself in for arrest and fingerprinting Tuesday afternoon. Trump’s US intelligence service’s security detail is in negotiations with New York prosecutors and local law enforcement over his planned arrest in Manhattan Criminal Court.

Trump himself had called for the protest when he posted online on March 18, when he said his arrest was imminent.

But in his angry statement Thursday night after news of the indictment broke, Trump failed to mention the protests — instead vowing in an angry statement to “fire every single one of these crooked Democrats from office.”
