Mariah also announced earlier this month that she will be embarking on a holiday tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of All I Want For Christmas Is You.
“I was working on it alone… on this little Casio keyboard, typing out words and thinking, ‘What do I think about at Christmas? What do I love? What do I want? What do I dream about?'” she said.
“And that’s how it all started,” the singer said. “My goal was to make something timeless, something that didn’t feel like it was from the ’90s, which was when I wrote it.”
The singer expressed that she “really, truly” loves the Christmas season and explained that the 1994 song “is not fake.”
The song is featured on his Merry Christmas album and he spoke more about the tune while speaking with Billboard in 2017.
Carey revealed: “I felt like it was too early in my career to do a Christmas album. And so, I decided to do it.”
He added that “the crazy thing about this is that every year it tends to increase in popularity.”
“I’m very grateful that people still seem to have an attachment to this.”
The Grammy Award winner gushed, “It makes me feel good when people tell me it’s a part of their lives.”
Since its release 30 years ago, the song has sold an impressive 16 million copies worldwide.
