After battling infertility for over 10 years, Maria Menounos is finally a mother, welcoming daughter Athena to Ma and now offering an update on her life.
The 45-year-old TV presenter also announced in January that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 of the pancreas, before welcoming Athena in June, via surrogate.
Menounos took to Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a snapshot of herself in a gray T-shirt that reads “Mother” in Barbie’s pink font, as she holds the little girl with her back to the camera.
‘Hello friends! Motherhood is going great. Athena is an angel. She’s currently sleeping on me while we get some morning light,” Menounos began.
I’m so in love it’s crazy. Thank you all for the love. I look back on the last 6 years, it’s been a bit crazy,” she admitted, before summing up all the heartbreaking life updates he’s been through in recent years.

“Mom has a brain tumor, then me, two brain surgeries later, then my parents are hospitalized with COVID, then I lost my mother, then I was diagnosed with type one diabetes, then a neuroendocrine tumor on my pancreas… some other stuff. crazy in the middle too,’ she added.
Menounos added that her husband, Kevin Undergaro, told her: “Maybe I’m too good with punches and I should sit down and acknowledge it all more, maybe at some point I’ll dig deeper.”
‘Right now, that list alone makes me so grateful to be alive and thriving. Being here to enjoy this beautiful girl,” he continued.
‘Thanks God! Thank you st Nectarios and Panagia. I pray that everything is behind us and we only have great days ahead of us!’ she concluded.
Menounos and Undergaro had tried in vitro fertilization (IVF) several times in the past, as Menounos told the Daily Mail in May that she was ready to give up.
She said she was “totally prepared” to never bring a biological child into the world, adding: “I was about to give up.” He was so tired and so down. It is a financial drain and an emotional drain.
‘If it wasn’t for (my team who) came together to help me find the surrogate in one day, I don’t know where we would be right now.
‘Sometimes it’s just not in our time and it’s not what we can control. I will give comfort to those who are in that situation where they don’t think they will be able to have it,’ he added.

Speaking about her first month as a mom, the former E! the host said: ‘Motherhood is amazing. It is such an interesting, joyous and amazing experience… It has been the most wonderful month of my life. i’m ecstatic
“I feel like it’s Christmas morning every time I see her and I wake up with her and feed her and change her and everything, she’s just amazing.”
