Tennis legend Margaret Court has harshly criticized the Albanian government for its treatment of Israel during the country’s war against Hamas in Gaza.
During a Senate meeting last month, Foreign Minister Penny Wong indicated Australia would serve an international arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visited the country.
The International Criminal Court concluded that there were reasonable grounds for holding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant criminally responsible for alleged war crimes.
This includes accusations of using starvation as a method of war and intentionally targeting civilians in Gaza. The orders do not constitute a guilty plea.
Speaking outside his Victory Life Church in Perth on Sunday following Senator Wong’s comments, Court said the Australian government should be “ashamed” of its treatment of Israel.
‘It’s time for our government to go. “The Australian government should be ashamed of the way it has treated Israel,” Court said.
‘Penny Wong said that if the Israeli Prime Minister came to Australia he would be arrested. People very quickly forget that Israel did not start this war.
‘The day after October 7, 2023, I spoke to a man in Israel over Zoom. Said Margaret: Last night I visited a lady in the hospital who lost her husband and four children in the Hamas attack on Israel.
Divisive tennis figure Margaret Court has criticized the Albanian government over its treatment of Israel, saying Australia should support the country in its war against Hamas.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong indicated Australia would comply with the arrest warrant if Netanyahu visited the country.
‘Her husband was shot and she saw her four children being dismembered in front of her. And they told him ‘we won’t kill you, because we want you to remember this for the rest of your life’, how horrible.’
Court said he spoke to one of his friends in Israel, who warned him to “please pray,” stating that more than 30 missiles are aimed at the country every day.
He added that Australia needed to “support the United States” and “what the Bible says” by backing Israel in its war in Gaza.
“We don’t always hear how Israel defends itself on a daily basis,” Court said.
‘What Israel is doing in Gaza and other nations around it always appears on television and in the press.
‘Do you know how dangerous it is for our nation to confront Israel? We need to support America and stand up for what the Bible says, not the United Nations.
‘We are a blessed nation. We have always been a Judeo-Christian nation. Our government has always supported Israel.
Court claimed that the Bible was the “road map to success” and cited verses from Genesis about God making Israel a great nation and blessing those who support it, while cursing those who oppose the nation.
“We want Australia to remain a blessed nation,” Court said.
‘Penny Wong’s job is to make friends with all nations. What a delusion not to be on Israel’s side. Wake up Australia. Let us continue to be a Judeo-Christian nation.”
Activists have been protesting the war in Gaza since it began following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack in Israel.
The court’s comments come after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (pictured) on charges of war crimes in Gaza.
During the Senate debate on the issue last week, Senator Wong said that “unlike” the Coalition, Labor “actually believes that adherence to international law is a matter of principle and is in the interests of Australia”.
“What I would say to you is that I have made it clear many times in this place that all parties to the conflict must comply with international law, and I say again that we respect the independence of the International Criminal Court and its important role in defending the international law”. law.’
Asked whether Netanyahu would be arrested if he entered Australia, Senator Wong said she would not “speculate on hypotheticals”.
“What I can say to the House is that Australia will act consistently with our obligations under international law and our approach will be based on international law, not politics,” Senator Wong said.
The official death toll in Gaza has surpassed 44,000, according to the local Health Ministry, and tens of thousands more are missing or believed to be buried under rubble.
Israel’s war in Gaza was sparked by the Hamas terrorist group’s attack on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,200 people and led to the taking of 250 hostages, according to Israel’s count.
The Zionist Federation of Australia condemned the orders, saying the court had failed to recognize that Israel was fighting terrorists in a war it did not start.
“This morally flawed decision by the ICC undermines justice by attacking the leaders of a democratic nation defending itself against terrorism,” said President Jeremy Leibler.
Netanyahu flatly rejected the charges and described the arrest warrant as an “anti-Semitic decision” based on false accusations.
“No biased anti-Israel decision in The Hague will prevent the State of Israel from defending its citizens,” Netanyahu wrote.
‘Israel does not and will not recognize the validity of this decision.
‘We will continue to do everything we must do to defend our citizens and defend our State against Iran’s axis of terror. “Iran and its terrorist allies, including Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and others.”
