One of Marcus Rashford’s cars was involved in an accident with a suspected drink driver, and his Manchester United teammate Tyrell Malacia was taken to hospital for checks.

As reported by SunRashford’s luxury Range Rover Sport collided with a black Mercedes on July 16 in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Rashford, 26, was sitting in the back car and his Range Rover was driven by a friend while Dutch defender Malacia sat in the passenger seat.

Both the anonymous friend and Malacia were sent to the hospital as a precaution, but doctors cleared them to leave after avoiding injuries.

A 55-year-old woman, believed to have been driving the Mercedes involved in the incident, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Cheshire Police have confirmed that officers attended the scene of a collision between a blue Range Rover Sport and a black Mercedes C220 AMG model earlier this month.

They added that a woman was arrested at the scene and two men were taken to hospital.

The accident took place two days before Rashford was handed a six-month driving ban.

The striker was caught driving at 104mph on the M60 in his £560k Rolls Royce but claimed he was driving over the speed limit for fear of being chased.

England international Rashford also insisted he is being followed “all the time”.

The incident, which took place on December 12, came less than two months after the superstar wrecked another elegant Rolls-Royce in an accident.

Although his vehicle sustained significant damage, Rashford and the other driver involved managed to escape unharmed when police officers arrived at the scene.

Rashford flew to Los Angeles with the rest of the United squad on Wednesday for their pre-season tour of the United States, while Malacia remained in the UK.

The 24-year-old, who has formed a close bond with Rashford and has often spent holidays with him, has been left out of the squad as he continues his recovery from injury.

Meanwhile, United boss Erik ten Hag is “100 per cent” confident Rashford will regain his goalscoring form after a difficult second campaign under him.

New assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy is confident he will help the ace, Ten Hag said: ‘The reason Ruud is here is clear, he can help the strikers, but it’s more than that.

‘With Rashford he can only prove his worth.

“He’s already scoring a lot of goals at a relatively young age, he’s capable of doing it. So I’m 100% confident that he can do the same thing he did a few years ago.”
