Marc Anthony slammed Donald Trump after racist jokes were made about Puerto Rico at the Madison Square Garden Republican rally on Sunday.
The Puerto Rican superstar, 56, endorsed Democrat Kamala Harris in the US presidential election in a new video, a day after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe was criticized for calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” on the rally
In the video, Anthony said: ‘I’m here to tell you that even though some may have forgotten… I remember. I remember what it was like when Trump was president. I remember what he did and said, about Puerto Rico…
‘About our people… I remember after Hurricane Maria devastated our island… Trump blocked billions in aid… while thousands died.
‘I remember when our families lacked clean water and electricity, Trump threw paper towels and called Puerto Rico “dirty” and “poor.” But it didn’t surprise me…

‘Because I ALSO remember… he launched his campaign calling Latinos criminals and rapists. He has told us what he will do. He will separate children from their families and threatened to use the ARMY to do it
‘This election goes far beyond political parties. Now let’s remember what the United States represents and stands for. It’s our name: United. Regardless of where we are from. “I’m Marc Anthony… I remember… And that’s why I support Kamala Harris for president.”
Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny also endorsed Harris by again sharing his commitment to the country on Monday, while Jennifer Lopez, whose parents are Puerto Rican, pledged her support.
Ricky Martin, the Puerto Rican superstar with 18.6 million followers on Instagram, quickly shared a video of Harris’ appeal to Puerto Rican voters, along with a clip of Hinchcliffe’s disparaging comments.
“This is what they think of us,” Martín wrote in Spanish. ‘Vote for @kamalaharris.’
López shared the same video and several slides showing Harris’ policy in Puerto Rico to her 250 million followers.
The video shared by Bad Bunny on Instagram shows Harris saying “there is a lot at stake in this election for Puerto Rican voters and for Puerto Rico.” A representative for the artist confirmed that Bad Bunny is supporting Harris.
The artist then shared another part of the clip where Harris says: ‘I will never forget what Donald Trump did and did not do when Puerto Rico needed a supportive and competent leader.’

Hinchcliffe accused Democrats of having “no sense of humor” after facing explosive backlash for calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” during his appearance at Donald Trump’s rally.
Hinchcliffe, 40, took the podium at Madison Square Garden on Sunday to tell a series of jokes that included lewd and racist comments about Latinos, Jews and blacks.
The jokes were typical of Hinchcliffe, a podcaster and writer known for his edgy, often dark humor and biting commentary, but they were not well received.
Even prominent Republicans called his comments “completely classless,” “racist” and “rhetoric that does not reflect the values of the Republican Party.”
The comedian, however, stands his ground, claiming that Democrats, including vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have “taken (the joke) out of context to make it appear racist.”
“These people have no sense of humor,” he tweeted. ‘I love Puerto Rico and vacationing there. I made fun of everyone… watch the full set.’ He then took aim directly at Walz, suggesting that he was wasting time analyzing the set and couldn’t take a joke.
Hinchcliffe’s outfit also received widespread condemnation from Democrats and a number of Puerto Rican stars – including Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Ricky Martin – responded by endorsing Harris and sharing their plans for the American territory.
Trump was seen kissing former first lady Melania Trump during the campaign rally.
Trump’s normally bellicose campaign also took the rare step of distancing itself from Hinchcliffe, with a senior aide stating that “this joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”
Hinchcliffe has been most criticized for jokes he made about Puerto Rico.
‘I don’t know if you know this, but right now there is literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,’ he said at the rally.
In another lewd comment, he added: ‘These Latinos love having babies too. I only know that. They do it. They do it. There is no way out. They don’t do that. They enter. Just like they did with our country.’
The joke, which received a lukewarm response from the crowd, was immediately criticized by the Harris campaign as it competes with Trump to win over Puerto Rican communities in Pennsylvania and other swing states.
