A hospitality worker has been lambasted by the parents of some unruly children after she scolded them for misbehaving at the restaurant where she works.

Outraged parents demanded the waitress be fired because she was shouting at children who were running around and nearly knocked over a tray full of hot drinks.

The woman thinks she may have overreacted, but said she was right to tell the children to be careful and behave.

She explained that she was working very busy at the large restaurant where she works when a large family of seven adults and five children came for lunch.

“These kids were running wild, screaming and yelling and playing what I think was tag.” I had a large tray of hot drinks when one of the children whirred past me,” the waitress recalls.

“The parents hadn’t said anything at this point, even though their children had been running around for 30 minutes, one of them had already started throwing a fit and trying to undress.”

The server almost got into another altercation with one of the children while she was bringing hot drinks to another table.

“I yelled at the kids and told them they should either sit at their table and be quiet or stay outside where they couldn’t hurt themselves by hitting us with our hot drinks,” he said. she declared.

“I understand I could have been more polite, but there were about 100 people in the restaurant at the time and they had almost hit me with boiling teapots.”

She said the parents were “furious”, the child she had scolded started crying and the family complained to their manager that she was “rude”, causing her to “a lot of trouble.”

“They wanted me fired for saying ‘trying to discipline their kids.’ I understand what I said wasn’t good, but at least it stopped their kid from getting a third-degree burn from ‘a pot of tea,’ she said.

The woman shared her dilemma in a Reddit post, admitting she was a little too “brash” with the kids, but maintains she had the right to scold them.

One user stood by her and said: “I guarantee if the kid had bumped into you, dropped hot drinks on you and got burned, the restaurant would have taken legal action on behalf of parents.”

“You didn’t do anything wrong except be too patient.” Your manager, parents and children all need to be spanked! » joked for a second.

“When will these parents be more responsible and able to discipline their children when they are in public?! It’s not hard. You did the right thing,” agreed a third.

Others said she shouldn’t have gotten angry at the family and should have had a polite word instead.

“You should have said something to the parents, or asked your manager to do it before you reached boiling point,” one wrote.

“My point is it’s better to bite your tongue these days,” added another.

However, the waitress pointed out: “My manager had already spoken to them before this point, the parents said they would talk to their children…they never did and then started making fun of my manager.” »
