Manu Feildel responded to a critic about his new bistro.

The celebrity chef, 50, took to Instagram on Sunday to share an image of a negative review of his Bistro Red Lion By Manu.

“The noise in the bistro was so loud it was difficult to hear the people at our table,” began one anonymous customer’s review.

“The food was a bit bland and lacked a good combination of flavors,” they continued, before adding that “the presentation of the scallop boudin was off-putting.”

“Keep up the good work in the kitchen. The wine selection was good. I wish you all the best,” the critic concluded.

Manu shared the review and then added his own comment: ‘Thanks Karen!!!’

“Karen” is a slang term used to refer to a person who feels entitled or overly demanding.

However, fans were quick to turn on the chef in the comments section of his post.

“Oh my God Manu, you’re a co-host of a cooking show, for God’s sake, where you criticize the contestants, but it seems you have a problem with what is considered a fair comment, my friend… God… can’t you handle the pressure? Get out of the kitchen,” wrote one outraged fan.

“The only ‘Karen’ is you, Manu. I found the response quite polite and constructive,” added another.

“I’d be concerned that you wrote that the food was a bit bland. Wouldn’t you like to check that this isn’t a general opinion? It’s possible that the dish was a disappointment that night,” said a third.

However, fans were quick to turn on the chef in the comments section of his post.

Feildel has run four restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney in the past, but all of them have since closed.

The My Kitchen Rules star opened ‘Bistro Red Lion’ at the iconic 196-year-old Red Lion pub in Rozelle, Sydney last month.

Manu’s new bistro occupies the upper level of the Rozelle pub.

It is a new addition to the nearly two-century-old establishment that recently underwent a $1.5 million renovation.

Manu will run the restaurant alongside his friend of ten years, Jamie Gannon, who is the chief executive of the pub’s owner group, Laundy Hotels.

The menu includes cherished recipes from his own family archives, which he describes as “delicious, accessible food.”

“I want guests at Bistro Red Lion by Manu to forget about the outside world and feel as if they are dining at my home, enjoying a good bottle of wine,” he said.

Manu opened his first restaurant, Aperitif in Kings Cross, with Miguel Maestre in 2011, but it sadly closed its doors after 12 months.

He then opened his own French bistro, L’Etoile, in Paddington, which remained open for six years before his job at MKR forced him to close it.

He then went into business with George Calombaris’ MAdE Establishment and launched Le Grand Cirque in South Yarra, Melbourne, which lasted only four months.

In 2018, he closed his Duck In Duck Out restaurant in World Square, which featured a menu made exclusively with duck, after one year of operation.
