CCTV footage captured the moment an unlucky man was left with his legs pinned and dangling in the air after getting stuck in the doors of a malfunctioning elevator.

The incident, in which the 55-year-old man narrowly escaped his feet, took place in George Town, Malaysia, on the night of June 17-18.

Video from the elevator shows how the accident happened, while photos show the cramped and painful position in which the man was trapped.

The footage shows the elevator doors opening, and before the man even gets inside, he begins to ascend.

Due to this disturbance, the man is completely taken by surprise and immediately stumbles.

After he falls to the floor, his legs are left hanging out of the open elevator door while his body is inside.

Fortunately, the elevator then comes to an abrupt stop, possibly due to a safety device that kicked in when the doors didn’t close properly.

However, the man’s feet were left dangling over the bay in the wall in what appeared to be a very painful position.

The Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Department was called and rescuers were dispatched to the scene to free the trapped man.

He was eventually freed from the elevator and sent to hospital for treatment for his apparently bloodied feet.
