It is no longer a secret that FC Bayern recently fined Sadio Mané after his violent attack on his team-mate Leroy Sané. So far, however, it was not entirely clear what the sum was. A new media report now sheds light on the darkness and also shows that the people of Munich have done their utmost.
What happened? Sadio Mané is said to have hit Leroy Sané in the face after the Champions League defeat in the first leg against Manchester City (0: 3). The two FC Bayern professionals have since spoken out, Mané had to pay a fine and was not allowed to play in the game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (1-1) last weekend.
But how high was the sum that Mané is now going on? The previous maximum penalty at FC Bayern is 50,000 euros. Franck Ribéry had to pay this amount around eleven years ago for a hit against Arjen Robben. Mané, on the other hand, now had to dig much deeper into his pocket.
After “Bild” only reported an unspecified six-digit amount, “Sky” later provided more detailed information and revealed that the penalty “went far beyond 300,000 euros”.
“Sport Bild” now has concrete figures. Accordingly, Mané has to shell out around 350,000 euros.
FC Bayern waives penalty club against Mané
And the Senegalese, who quickly showed remorse and apologized to Sané, was lucky. Because, as it goes on, FC Bayern could have gone to the extreme and fully exploited the contract.
Because the working paper apparently states that the people of Munich are allowed to set a penalty of one month’s salary.
With a rumored annual income of 22 million euros, that would have been more than 1.8 million euros.
Internally, the topic now seems to be over. Mané is expected to be back in the quarter-final second leg against Man City on Wednesday evening. Coach Thomas Tuchel announced this on Tuesday.
