Mandy Moore said it would be difficult to release her long-running primetime soap This Is Us Friday after news of the cancellation went official.

The 37-year-old actress and singer shared a bittersweet Instagram post quoting Dan Fogelman, the creator of the series.

Mandy gushed that she would ‘soak in any moment’ of the series’ final 18 episodes, which will air in early 2022.

Fogelman mused about the difficulty of saying goodbye to something meaningful in his own post.

“The one who casually said for the first time, ‘All good things must come to an end,’ never had to end his favorite thing,” he wrote. I’m also grateful to NBC for getting the show to end, how and when we always planned it.

“We will work hard to hold on to the landing,” he added, along with the hashtag, “#ThisIsUs.”

Mandy sounded determined to enjoy the series’ ending in her own commentary.

Moore also shared Fogelman’s post in her Instagram Stories with more comment.

‘I am already VERY emotional about my favorite job ending. BUT … We have a whole season to get things done as it was always intended to be, ‘she wrote.

The actress, who welcomed her first son August Harrison with husband Taylor Goldsmith in February, also shared a lovely snap of her pregnancy days rocking her baby bump in a beige satin sleeveless dress.

“I miss my bump,” she wrote, adding, “but I love being able to squeeze my little man even more.”

News of the series’ ending was first reported by Wednesday The Hollywood Reporter, but it wasn’t until Friday that NBC confirmed the news.

The network also shared that the series would move to a new launch date in early 2022 as a mid-season show.

The spot is usually reserved for shows to make up for newly canceled series, but it’s a conscious choice because on that start date, the show will be able to air all 18 episodes without major breaks in between.

‘Of course because of COVID this year, [This Is Us‘] schedule has been on and off, and we want to honor fans by making sure they have the best viewing experience possible, ” said Susan Rovner, president of Entertainment at NBC Universal Television, on Friday. TV line.

“By placing it in the middle of the season, we have as few interruptions as possible,” she explained. “I think it will be a great event for the fans to enjoy this incredible show.”

Due to pandemic interruptions, the series was a star stop and could only air three episodes in a row once.

The show was an award dynamo with Emmy nominations for drama series and stars Ventimiglia, Moore, Sterling K Brown Brown and Metz.

The final season is expected to have 18 episodes, bringing the total number of series episodes to over 100. That number means producers can get a generous “ off-network syndication deal, ” according to the site, which would mean a big paid day for Fogelman and Disney, who now own the series.

There have been indications over the years that the show would end. In May 2019, sources told THR that season six would be “ probably the last. ”

Fogelman also said the show would not last very long in 2019.

“We never intended to make a television series that would run for 18 seasons, so we have a very direct plan. I have script pages that I have written and I am writing those really deep, deep, deep into the future. We have a plan for what we’re going to do, and I know what the plan is, ”he told THR.

Fogelman also said that during season three, the series was “ center stage. ”

This comes after Moore joked that her baby boy might need “ therapy ” after watching her grow older for This Is Us.

Rebecca Pearson’s portrayal of the 37-year-old actress in the NBC drama series requires her to transform into both older and younger versions of the character and she joked that she feared her facial change would have a traumatic effect on her two-month-old. son August, known as Gus.

Mandy shared a video of herself in completely outdated makeup breastfeeding the toddler in April and said in the Instagram Story clip, ‘That’s a wrap for season five. Now I feed my child. I hope he doesn’t need therapy for this later. ‘

Later in the day, Mandy – who is married to Taylor Goldsmith – shared another video of herself in bed with all traces of the character removed, expressing her gratitude for the drama series’ longevity.

She said to her fans, ‘I just got home, got into bed and feel very grateful.
