Mandy Moore took a trip down memory lane and revealed the fashion choices she made in the early years of her career.
Talking with American magazineThe 40-year-old entertainer, who is expecting her third child with husband Taylor Goldsmith, shared her thoughts on various red carpet moments, music videos and other highlights.
Moore burst onto the music scene in 1999 with her hit single Candle.
She told the publication that the song “shaped everything” in the years that followed, noting, “It opened a lot of doors for me to try my hand at acting and get to this point.”
Looking back at what she wore to the 2000 MTV Music Awards (shiny white jeans and a sheer gold top over a white tank top), the star declared: “I definitely wouldn’t wear this today.”

In an interview with Us magazine, the 40-year-old entertainer shared her thoughts on various red carpet moments, music videos and other highlights photographed in 2000.
Recalling that special moment, she shared, “It was the beginning (of my career) and I was at Radio City Music Hall. I was radiating excitement to be there.”
She said about filming her first music video: “It was all so new to me.”
The soon-to-be mum-of-three added: “I remember being so excited to go through the hair, make-up and wardrobe process. I’d never been in the glamour world before.”
August 17th will mark the 25th anniversary of her first pop song.
“I almost feel like it happened to someone else, like I’m remembering a movie I saw,” she described.
The Y2K visualizer included scenes of the singer “driving” a car, as well as flirting with her love interest.
For fans wondering when they can expect new music from the recording artist, she revealed to the outlet, “This summer is dedicated to figuring out (my) next musical steps.”
After releasing her debut album, Mandy turned her attention to acting.
Recalling her choice of outfit for the premiere of The Princess Diaries, she noted: “Anne Hathaway looks like a movie star, and I’m in this weird acid-washed denim outfit”; photographed in 2001.
The next step in her budding acting career was her starring role in the 2002 drama A Walk to Remember, in which she appeared alongside Shane West.
Her first role was playing teenage antagonist Lana Thomas in 2001’s The Princess Diaries, starring Anne Hathaway.
Recalling her choice of outfit for the film’s premiere, she noted: “Anne Hathaway looks like a movie star and I’m wearing a weird acid-washed denim outfit.”
Moore added cheerfully: “It seems like we’re going to very different events.”
And as for her trending low-rise jeans, she said they are “definitely not my thing” right now.
The next step in her budding acting career was her starring role in the 2002 drama A Walk to Remember, in which she appeared alongside Shane West.
She affectionately referred to her co-star as her “caretaker” on set and said she still has a friendship with him.
On her role as dying high school student Jamie Sullivan, she said: “That little girl had no idea what she was doing. I leaned on (Shane) to show me how to shoot a movie and what it was like to be on a set. I love him dearly.”

Moore went on to star on This Is Us for six seasons, from 2016 to 2022.
She met her husband, a musician, in 2015 and they share sons Gus, three, and Ozzie, 21 months.
“We met at a sushi restaurant and had one of those epic four-hour meals where, like, the restaurant closes around you, and that was it. I knew pretty quickly that he was the one,” she gushed.
On the subject of motherhood, she said: “Your life becomes technicolour after having been black and white before[having children]. It’s the best, I love it.”
