Manchester United will headline this year’s Premier League Summer Series in the United States, Mail Sport can exclusively reveal.
We understand that the Premier League leaders are set to bring in flagship signing United for the first time as part of one of their official pre-season plans.
The Old Trafford club were not involved in the first Summer Series on the US east coast in 2023, and between 2003 and 2019 they never took part in nine iterations of the Asia Trophy.
United have preferred to organize their own summer tours due to their commercial appeal, so this is seen as a coup for the Premier League, which will stage commercial events around the mini-tournament. United has looked at bases in several cities, including Chicago.
Other participants are yet to be confirmed and there is no shortage of interest. The League will likely aim for six teams, but this could change. Bournemouth are among those in discussions about taking part in this year’s squad.
