Manchester United ‘set sights on Milan’s Franck Kessie as Paul Pogba leaves for free’… but face competition from Barcelona, PSG, Liverpool and Tottenham for the midfielder
- Man United consider Franck Kessie to replace Paul Pogba
- Pogba could leave United for free next summer if his contract expires
- Ivory Coast midfielder Kessie is also nearing the end of his AC Milan deal
- Barcelona, PSG, Tottenham and Liverpool are also eager to get the player
Paul Pogba has made one of the best season starts in his career at Manchester United, but the club are already preparing for a possible future without him and have identified AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie as a potential replacement.
Pogba has less than a year left on his contract and although reports emerged last week that he could still be convinced to stay at Old Trafford after Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival, there is still a serious prospect that the Frenchman can leave for free.
The 24-year-old Kessie is an attractive option for United, as he too has phased out his contract and would be available for free if Pogba leaves for Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid or Juventus next summer without a transfer fee.

Spanish newspaper Sports world has reported that United are among a number of top clubs aspiring to Kessie, who has commanded AC Milan’s midfield for the past five years.
Kessie has been instrumental in Milan’s recent revival, helping them get back into the Champions League by scoring 13 goals from midfield in Serie A last season, when the club finished second in the standings, their best league result since 2012.
But he’s faltering in contract talks with Milan, with a host of top clubs circling and waiting to strike from January, when Kessie is allowed to talk to other teams about a transfer.

The report says Barcelona are considering signing Kessie to bolster their midfield after losing to Georginio Wijnaldum when PSG offered to double the Dutchman’s pay.
But Barca fear history could repeat itself with Kessie, as PSG also have experience signing Milan players for a fee after signing Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma last summer.
In addition to PSG and Barca, Man United could face competition for Kessie a little closer to home, as the report adds that Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in the midfielder.
