Manchester United signs Real Madrid prodigy Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, according to reports in Spain.
The left back has spent the past three seasons in the La Liga giant’s youth teams after moving from Deportivo La Coruna, with Real Madrid battling Barcelona for Alvaro’s signature in 2017.
The 19-year-old’s contract expired on June 30, but the defender was offered a new contract to stay in Spain.

But according to the Spanish news broadcast AS, Alvaro has turned down Real Madrid’s offer and will sign a four-year deal with Old Trafford this summer.
The report says Alvaro is satisfied with the sports project at Manchester United and is excited about the prospect of playing Premier League football.
The left back is expected to start playing football in the Manchester United youth teams, but is able to make the switch to the first team if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer experiences a deficit in the defense.
The Real Madrid website describes Alvaro as a defender who wants to be just like his idol – the current left back Marcelo of Los Blancos.
The 19-year-old is intelligent on the ball and has strong technical skills, and is hard to beat in a one-on-one situation.
Alvaro will compete in the left back slot for Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams (above)
Signing Alvaro would create competition for, among others, Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams, a graduate of the United Academy.
The duo are currently missing Thursday night’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace due to an injury.
Shaw has picked up a swollen ankle while Williams has a facial injury and the pair have not returned to training after the 2-2 draw with Southampton on Monday night, Solksjaer said.
Portuguese fullback Diogo Dalot can be used has an improvised left back option for the Red Devils as they look to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League at the expense of Chelsea or Leicester City.
