Manchester United ‘will offer Alex Telles to Sporting Lisbon in their bid to fly to the much sought-after Nuno Mendes this summer’ … and Bruno Fernandes ‘is pushing the club to secure a deal for the Portuguese starlet’

  • Man United is preparing to offer Alex Telles for Sporting Lisbon’s Nuno Mendes
  • Bruno Fernandes has urged United to make an offer for the 18-year-old
  • Lisbon wants £ 34 million for Mendes – so United plans to lower the price with Telles

Bruno Fernandes has urged Manchester United to negotiate a deal for Sporting Lisbon’s Nuno Mendes, in a move that could use Alex Telles as a bargaining chip.

The Lisbon left back has made an impression this season and United see him as a possible addition when the transfer window re-opens this summer.

Fernandes, formerly of Sporting Lisbon, has pushed for the Red Devils to make a bid for Mendes – but Telles could leave Old Trafford after just one season as a result, according to Listing

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will already feel comfortable with his left-back options.

Luke Shaw has impressed again this season with the first pick, with Telles proving to be a talented backup, as well as Brandon Williams, who is on the fringe of the squad.

However, despite Telles’ contributions since his arrival from Porto last summer, he could return to Portugal ahead of schedule.

18-year-old Mendes has become a sought-after target for some of the European elite with his performances in Primeira Liga this season.

And Fernandes is now trying to pull the strings behind closed doors to get United up front for Mendes’ signature.

According to the report, the Portuguese club wants around £ 34 million for the left back and United will try to lower the price by considering Telles in a swap deal.

Whether United will listen and follow Fernandes’ instructions is not yet known, but they won’t want to risk upsetting their talisman, which has registered 16 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League this campaign.

Solskjaer also wants to compete for Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a right back, considering Norwich’s Max Aarons and Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier.
