The Mirror have now reported that United have also been offered the Brazilian winger, with a loan turning into a permanent deal seen as the ‘most likely option’.
One stumbling block for United, however, is that Real Madrid want at least £68.5million for the 21-year-old.
United are already expected to announce the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho at any time, on a £73m deal.
Vinicius would be disappointed that the LaLiga side wants to move him, given that new manager Carlo Ancelotti hopes to keep him.
But Madrid are looking to raise around €150m to sign Mbappe this summer, despite his PSG contract expiring next year.
Vinicius came to Madrid in the summer of 2018, a year after the club signed a £36m deal to take him over from Brazil’s Flamengo.

Meanwhile, United are expected to make a formal offer this week for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
United are wary of reports of personal terms and compensation as they make steady progress in talks for the France international.
The 28-year-old has indicated that he wants to go to United, although nothing has yet been agreed, with a £50m fee for a player who still has a one-year contract still considered too high.
