  • Manchester United return to pre-season preparation in Carrington on June 27
  • Ten Hag has asked his staff to trim the grass to 15mm to encourage smooth passes
  • The Dutchman plans to test the team’s endurance through fitness exercises on the ball
  • He has also urged his players to always eat together after they finish training
  • Demand is very similar to Sir Alex Ferguson’s policy

Manchester United’s new manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly issued specific orders to his training staff in an effort to encourage his players to fit in during the first week of the pre-season.

The Red Devils will get their first glimpse of the Dutchman’s management methods in Carrington when the squad returns to training on June 27.

In an effort to prioritize exercises on the ball during the opening sessions, Ten Hag has reportedly told his staff to trim the grass to exactly 15mm so the players can quickly get started with his passing requirements.

The former Ajax coach will measure the overall fitness of his players during the first two days of training, but plans to test their stamina with adequate exercise rather than fitness exercise, the report said. Mirror

Ten Hag would also like to promote a positive team spirit in the dressing room of the Red Devils and has therefore insisted that the team should eat and socialize together after training.

Old Trafford legend Sir Alex Ferguson made similar demands during his 26-year tenure at the club, but this culture has since evaporated in the camp.

Players have become accustomed to eating in the staff restaurant whenever they want, with some even going home or to the gym right after training.

As part of the new eating routine, Ten Hag and his backroom staff will accompany the players during meals.

Manchester United embarked on a pre-season tour to Australia and Southeast Asia in July.

As it stands, Ten Hag’s troops will first face rivals Liverpool in Bangkok and then travel to Melbourne to play Crystal Palace before finishing the tour against Aston Villa in Perth.
