Bailly went down injured during United’s recent pre-season clash with Premier League rivals Tottenham in Shanghai, and had to be helped from the pitch with a stretcher.
The club have not been drawn on whether this will impact the pursuit for Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.
United have been heavily linked with the England international, who missed training this week due to an illness.
The Foxes have insisted they do not need to sell Maguire to satisfy financial worries, and are understood to be holding out for a fee in the region of £80million.
