Manchester United have reportedly contacted Barcelona for a second time to enquire about the availability of Ivan Rakitic.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a known admirer of the Croatia international and as revealed by Sportsmail, he identified the midfielder as a potential target back in February.
The Red Devils reportedly enquired into the availability of Rakitic three weeks ago and according to Spanish outlet SPORT, they have now followed up their original call by checking in again on the 31-year-old.

Barcelona have been receptive to United’s overtures. They are looking for a fee of around €50million (£44.9m), but have pushed back against United’s first suggested offer of €35m (£31.4m).
Rakitic himself has expressed a reluctance to leave the Nou Camp, insisting last month that he is happy with the Spanish champions.
‘I want to win another Champions League with Barca,’ Rakitic said.
‘I have three years left in my contract and I never thought about leaving. Me and my family are happy here.’

Rakitic joined Barcelona from Sevilla back in 2014 and Solskjaer sees the playmaker as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba.
The French international has openly courted with the idea of a move to Real Madrid, while Juventus are also reportedly interested in bringing the 26-year-old back to Turin.
In their call to Barcelona about Rakitic, United reportedly made no reference to Samuel Umtiti, who they have also been linked with this summer.
