Manchester United are slammed for ‘defending like an Under-7s team’ as they allowed Luis Diaz to open the scoring for Liverpool at Old Trafford

Manchester United fans expressed their frustration with their team’s defense when they conceded the first goal at home to Liverpool.

Luis Díaz put Liverpool ahead in the 23rd minute with an acrobatic effort after Darwin Núñez headed the ball in from a corner.

The United players remained static in the area and gave Díaz too much space, who took full advantage.

One X user accused United of defending “like an under-7 team”.

One United fan commented that Erik ten Hag’s team gave Díaz “the freedom of Manchester” to score.

They wrote: “Very charitable of us to give Diaz the freedom of Manchester to score.”

One fan felt that Aaron Wan-Bissaka was especially guilty of the goal.

They said: ‘What a horrible goal to concede! AWB scores again and Díaz allows the freedom of Old Trafford!!! #MUFC’.

Additionally, another fan commented on the number of shooting opportunities United have allowed their opponents recently.

They wrote: ‘We have currently conceded 71 shots in two or so games.

‘Shameful’.

United have struggled defensively this season, and Diaz’s goal is the 45th goal they have conceded in the Premier League this season.
