Erik ten Hag ‘approaching signing his first Man United signing with Antony who will join a £40m deal…with club officials ‘in Amsterdam to get Ajax winger deal across the line’
- Manchester United to make £40m transfer for Ajax striker Antony
- The 22-year-old scored 12 goals for the Eredivisie title winners last season
- He has also sparked interest from Tottenham and others across Europe
- But United officials are reported to be in Amsterdam to negotiate a deal
Manchester United are reportedly approaching their first major signing of the summer with Antony heading from Ajax on a £40million transfer.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful season with the Eredivisie title winners, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in new United boss Erik ten Hag’s last season at the club.
This has meant that the Brazilian, who has made nine senior international appearances, has attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, including United and rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

United officials come to Amsterdam to cross the line on a deal for the Brazilian, according to The sun.
Antony would like to follow in the footsteps of former boss ten Hag, whom he personally thanked after the departure of the Dutch giants.
The Brazilian posted on Instagram: “I want to thank you for everything you taught me. Know that I will always be by your side when you need me.”
Ten Hag, who is already working at United, will embark on a difficult rebuild at the club this summer after a season in which much of the squad struggled to meet the standards expected at the club.

A number of players, including Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic, have already announced that they will be leaving the club this summer with others expected to follow.
Antony could be the first part of United’s rebuilding this summer and there is still a lot of work to be done to put their miserable campaign behind them, which saw them finish sixth in the Premier League.
The Dutch boss is also targeting Ajax midfielders Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez, as well as FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong.
That may read like an expensive shopping list, United Chief Executive Richard Arnold said during the sensational exchange with United supporters in a Cheshire pub that “money is not a consideration” in United’s transfer business.

United’s interest in De Jong has been well documented, as the two clubs have been in disagreement for some time over compensation for the 25-year-old Dutchman.
About De Jong, who estimates Barcelona at 69 million pounds, Arnold told the fans: “Money does not matter who we want.
“It’s that the manager wants him, that they’ve done the work to see if he’s a great player.
‘Is it £100 million or £200 million? I don’t know. Get who the fuck you want. Do you want me to buy the players? Doesn’t that ring a bell?’
