Man United’s ‘transfer fee demand for Jadon Sancho could scupper Borussia Dortmund’s plan to bring back the Old Trafford outcast permanently’

Borussia Dortmund reportedly want to sign Jadon Sancho permanently, but Manchester United’s transfer demands could be a problem.

The 24-year-old returned to Germany on loan in January after being exiled from United’s first team following a high-profile dispute with manager Erik ten Hag.

Dortmund previously sanctioned Sancho’s £73million move to Old Trafford three years ago but now want to seal his permanent transfer back to BVB.

However, according to sky sports germany, The Red Devils want at least £40m for the winger, who failed to live up to expectations in England.

Dortmund are reluctant to spend £40million on Sancho but have not given up hope of signing the 24-year-old for a discounted fee.

Sancho’s current contract in Manchester expires in 2026 and the winger is eager to leave the club after the worst spell of his career which also coincided with his departure from the England set-up.

He scored his first goal since returning to Dortmund in their 2-1 Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen at the weekend and the club are now exploring how they can engineer Sancho’s return for next season.

The club is a shrewd business operator in the transfer market, often signing players cheap, upgrading them and then selling them for huge profits, but United are unlikely to lower their asking price to meet Dortmund’s demands.

When Manchester United initially sought Sancho’s signature, the German giants consistently turned them down before agreeing to pay almost £80m for the difficult winger.

The English team have lowered their asking price and will surely take a bit of a loss on Sancho when he leaves, but Dortmund have “secret plans” to reduce their fee further.

One option the German giants are exploring is to ask for Sancho to be sent back to the club for another season-long loan in Germany before attempting to seal a subsequent purchase.

The Bundesliga giants are also considering using Sancho in a player plus cash deal for talented striker Donyell Malen, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
