Erik ten Hag’s side travelled to Murrayfield on Saturday morning for their final warm-up friendly in the UK before flying to the United States for a summer tour.
United arrived in Edinburgh looking to avoid another frustrating defeat after being beaten 1-0 by Norwegian side Rosenborg in their last game.
The match was due to kick off at 4pm but was eventually delayed as hundreds of seats remained empty at the stadium in the Scottish capital.
Groups of excited fans were stuck in queues at the turnstiles, while congestion on the roads had also caused problems for ticket holders getting to the match.

Fans posting online claimed limited entry points meant they struggled to get into the stadium in time for the original kick-off time as the two teams faced off.
It was then agreed that postponing the match by 15 minutes was the best solution to allow fans to reach their seats in an orderly and safe manner.
There was a huge stir among United fans who had travelled north of the border as they clamoured to catch a glimpse of new signing Yoro.

Jadon Sancho made his first appearance for Manchester United in almost a year after previously being on leave.
The 18-year-old completed his £52million move from Lille on Thursday and was quickly thrust into a first training session the following day by Ten Hag.
It was therefore a surprise when Ten Hag made the decision to include the centre-back in his travelling squad to Scotland and allow him to make his debut as a starter against Rangers.
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho made his first appearance for United in almost a year as he also started in the tie after making peace with Ten Hag following a bitter fallout.
Sancho spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund after falling out with Ten Hag and subsequently being exiled from the first team.
