Man United ‘will let FIVE first-team players leave to make way for Erik ten Hag’s new signings’
Manchester United ‘put FIVE first team players’ this summer to make way for Erik ten Hag’s new signings… ‘with Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams all redundant’
- Manchester United considers five current players unnecessary
- Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Aaron Wan-Bissaka may leave in the summer

The Red Devils think they will have to sell this summer to bolster their roster – with new manager Erik ten Hag looking for a central defender in the transfer market.
Although the former Ajax boss is willing to give certain players at Old Trafford a clean slate, there are reports that five defensive players will be up for sale in the coming months.

Ten Hag has inherited a United defense that has been both overcrowded and under-performing, with 57 goals in the league last year – their worst defensive season since 1978/79.
Obviously Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams, Axel Tuanzebe and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all been told they can leave the club this summer as the Red Devils look to rebuild after it.
Both Williams and Tuanzebe took out their respective loans last season, but they failed to make a big enough impact to warrant a place in United’s roster next year.
Meanwhile, Jones, Bailly and Wan-Bissaka have simply fallen out of favor and are considered redundant at Old Trafford – with the club confident they can sign suitable replacements in the summer.
While the Red Devils have yet to make a summer signing, it’s not because they want to try – with the club launching moves for Ajax duo Jurrien Timber and Antony, as well as Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
United will be looking for a new centre-back to challenge Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane for a starting spot – after their £30million transfer for Timber collapsed last week.
Timber’s Ajax teammate Lisandro Martinez and Villarreal’s Pau Torres are other possible options in the back.
Ten Hag’s main target remains Frenkie de Jong, his former Ajax player, but every step for the Dutchman will likely be the result of a number of departing clubs.
