Man United stars and their WAGs hit the red carpet at their player of the year gala

Date:

Manchester United stars dressed to impress as they walked the red carpet for the club’s season-ending ceremony on Monday night.

The Red Devils and their partners were spotted in suits and boots as they celebrated their 2022-23 campaign for their senior and academy sides.

A number of prestigious accolades were handed out during the evening, including Player of the Year Sir Matt Busby, which was won by in-form striker Marcus Rashford.

The event offered United’s stars a moment to reflect on their impressive campaign, which saw them return to their place in the Premier League’s top four.

However, despite their success this season, United boss Erik ten Hag has reminded his players that they still need to “do better” as they prepare for next season.

speaking at night, 10 Hag said: ‘For me, they know, good is not good enough. We must do better. But, of course, after the start [of the season], Brighton and Brentford… we are happy. We are in the right direction. But satisfied? No we are not.

“When you show confidence and belief in the plan and your teammates, you will win.” We’ve done it in so many games. But, also, we have faced setbacks.

“So they’re a resilient team with character and personality. Those are all the attributes you need for a successful season and [to] win trophies.’

Ten Hag also reminded his United stars that, despite their end-of-season awards, the campaign was not over and they still had one crucial game to play.

The Red Devils will face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final on June 3. United, if they win, will get a historic double while City could clinch the treble.

‘We have to do better. We have a good base but we have to do better. We have a game to play and it’s a great opportunity to take the next big step,” said ten Hag.

“Then, after the summer, we have to raise our standards and do even better. The competition is tough. Our competitors will reach higher levels and we must at least do the same.

“But I don’t think it’s good enough. We don’t want to stay here, we want to go higher and compete for the top two.

United finished third in the Premier League and were nine points behind second-placed Arsenal. Despite ten Hag’s disappointment, it was a significant improvement on their sixth place finish last year – before he arrived.

Rashford scooped Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards, while Antony’s strike at home to Barcelona won Goal of the Season.

For their women’s team, Alessio Russo won Player of the Year while Hannah Blundell won Player of the Year. Russo’s goal at Arsenal won the title for best strike.

In the academy, Kobbie Mainoo won the Jimmy Murphy award, Dan Gore picked up the Denzil Haroun award, Holly Deering won the Young Player of the Year award and Bella Reidford won the Player of the Year award.

The Red Devils have also launched the first Fan Award named after the late Ian Stirling and confirmed it will be a permanent feature of their end-of-season awards.
