Former striker Dimitar Berbatov harshly criticized Manchester United after their draw with Aston Villa.
Erik ten Hag’s side extended their winless run to five games with a 0-0 draw against in-form Villa at Villa Park.
Despite lacking an attacking threat, it was a determined defensive performance from United, who had conceded six goals in their previous two games against Tottenham and Porto.
Jonny Evans was named Man of the Match and Berbatov insists the Red Devils should be “ashamed” of that given his age.
He also believes that criticism of coach Ten Hag “will only grow” as the team is currently 14th in the standings after Sunday’s draw.

Berbatov also believes that criticism of boss Ten Hag “will grow after Sunday’s draw”
“Everyone on the pitch should be ashamed because Evans is man of the match at 36 years old,” the Bulgarian said on Sky Sports.
‘The criticism will continue to grow, because United need to win to get the points. They are 14th in the table, which is incredible.
“The only thing that needs to be corrected is to get the points bought, with the way they are playing at the moment, that is going to be difficult to do.”
The draw against Villa ensured that United have had their worst start to a league season in 35 years with only eight points in seven games.
This slow start to the 2024-25 campaign comes after United recorded their lowest finish in Premier League history last season, when Ten Hag’s side finished in eighth place.
The last time United took eight points or less from their first seven league games was in the 1989-90 season.
United scored just seven points after seven games in September 1989 and finished 13th in the old First Division in what was Sir Alex Ferguson’s fourth season at Old Trafford.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day after the match, he said: “I thought United’s performance was very good. Defending and with possession we controlled the game. It was up for grabs. We created chances but not many.
The draw against Villa ensured United had their worst start to a league season in 35 years.
‘Also, Villa didn’t create too many chances. It was balanced. We hit the crossbar, they had a shot blocked.
“We had that resilience throughout the season. We conceded three against Tottenham (in a 3-0 defeat last weekend) because we were down 10 and still going for the win. But otherwise, this is our fourth clean sheet. This tells you that we are headed in a good direction.
‘Now we also improve defense on counterattacks and improve possession control. But we also have to improve in the final third.”
