Man United: Paul Pogba jokes that he should NOT try to tackle at all after giving away a penalty against Roma
‘I’m trying to be the English man … I have to practice tackling without arms’: Paul Pogba jokes that he should NOT try and challenge at all after giving away a dubious handball penalty kick early in Man United’s beating against Roma
Paul Pogba highlighted the dubious penalty kick given to him during Manchester United’s beating against Roma and joked that he should just not try to tackle in the future.
United have almost sealed their spot in the Europa League final after beating Serie A Roma 6-2 at Old Trafford on Thursday night in the first leg of their semi-final.
United, however, had to overcome a brief scare at Old Trafford in the rain as Roma led 2-1 at half-time and Lorenzo Pellegrini converted from the penalty spot before Edin Dzeko added a second after Bruno Fernandes put the hosts up front.

The Frenchman would have acted in the area from Rick Karsdorp’s cross
But Roma’s penalty was highly controversial after Pogba accidentally hit the ball in the area with his arm up after sliding to the ground to try and block Rick Karsdorp’s cross.
And Pogba has since joked about the incident, saying he tried to be and deal with the “ English man ” before amusingly insisting that he should challenge “ without arms. ”
When asked to BT Sport what he could have done to avoid the penalty, Pogba replied lightly: ‘Just don’t tackle, I don’t know how to tackle, why should I tackle?
‘That’s my problem, I’m trying to tackle and be the Englishman, but I need to practice more. I have to practice tackling without arms.
‘It’s bad luck, it’s bad luck for me. I’ve been unlucky this season due to penalties, I have to learn this.
“But it’s okay, we still have faith in it and we have the result we wanted.”

United, unless they collapse dramatically in the return leg next week, will face Arsenal or Villarreal in the Europa League final in Gdansk on May 26.
Fernandes and Edinson Cavani were each twice on the scoresheet for the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer squad, while Pogba and Mason Greenwood also feature.
However, Pogba has refused to get carried away, even though their place in the final is almost certain.
“The result is positive, but it is not finished yet – it is one more stage to complete,” added Pogba.
‘We will have to stay focused and play the next stage with the same mentality.
“I would say we made two mistakes in the first half and scored two goals. After we got the second goal, we were a bit all over the place, but halfway through we said let’s do the right things, the simple things, and everything will be fine. The manager spoke, we were all motivated to score more goals. ‘
