Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a surprise move for a Premier League flop.
The club has sent two scouts to Spain to keep an eye on the forward, who is now 34 years old and living his best life.
He hardly lit up the world during his time at Stoke and Newcastle, where he scored a total of 11 goals in three seasons.
However, this season he has enjoyed some joy in front of goal, having scored 14 goals in 38 games, more than Rasmus Hojlund.
United believe the forward, who now plays for Real Madrid, could be a solid back-up option for Hojlund, according to Relief.
Manchester United have reportedly sent a pair of scouses to Spain to track down a potential backup striker for Rasus Hojlund.
The striker in question is Joselu, 34, who has scored 14 goals this season with Madrid

The man in question is Joselu, who is enjoying a second wind at the end of his career.
While his time in the Premier League will be remembered with little enthusiasm (or completely forgotten), he has improved his game on home soil.
He scored 17 goals for Espanyol last season, convincing Madrid to bring him back to the Santiago Bernabéu, and Carlo Ancelotti speaks highly of him.
‘Joselu is doing everything necessary and possible to continue. He is doing spectacularly, it is a blessing for us to have a forward with this quality, different from the others,’ he stated.
‘Always ready, when he starts or when he comes on (as a substitute). A very humble and serious person.’
Before arriving at Madrid and his loan to Espanyol, he had three fruitful seasons at Alavés, hitting the net 36 times in three seasons.
According to Relevo, Joselu’s priority is to stay at Madrid beyond the summer and his contract expires in 2025.
Any move for Joselu would likely have to be approved by incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth, who remains on gardening leave at Newcastle.
He had failed at Stoke and Newcastle, scoring just 11 goals in three seasons.
Despite Joselu’s clear merits at this point in his career, it seems like an unconventional transfer.
He has played for 12 different teams (including two B teams) and is widely seen as a European journeyman.
United have had a penchant for bringing in older substitute forwards in recent years; see Odion Ighalo and Wout Weghorst as examples. Neither of them produced the goods.
This is in stark contrast to Arsenal’s new 10-man squad, which includes Ivan Toney, Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres.
