Christian Eriksen has reportedly turned down a new contract extension at Brentford and given Manchester United and Spurs a transfer boost for next season.

The Danish international went into cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last June but began his remarkable return to football with Brentford in January, scoring a goal and four assists in 11 appearances to keep the club on the top flight.

But Eriksen is now reportedly looking for a new challenge for the next campaign, having turned down the chance to stay with the Bees.

Manchester United have been monitoring Christian Eriksen’s situation at Brentford and preparing an attack on the playmaker ahead of Erik ten Hag’s first transfer window with the club.

The new Red Devils boss would like to strengthen his midfield with former Ajax colleague Frenkie de Jong, but would reportedly welcome Eriksen to Old Trafford on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have also been linked with their former star following his prolific stint in West London last campaign.

Unlike Man United, Spurs are able to sign Eriksen in the Champions League draw after taking Arsenal on the post and finishing fourth in the final week of the season.

Manager Antonio Conte previously worked with the midfielder at Inter Milan and is reportedly fond of a reunion.

Tottenham have stormed the free agent market so far this summer, managing to bolster their squad with out-of-contract pair Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic.
