Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt ahead of a potential summer transfer.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was hoping to reach an agreement with his former Ajax defender.
Talks have been held with Bayern Munich over a possible £42m deal.

Centre-back has been seen as a key position for the Red Devils to strengthen this summer.

De Ligt is interested in working with his former Ajax boss Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
After taking charge of Ajax in 2018, Ten Hag made De Ligt the youngest captain in the club’s history and won both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup in the 2018–19 season.
They also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in the same campaign.
De Ligt joined Juventus that summer for £65.6m, before joining Bayern Munich three years later for a reported fee of £68m.
United are willing to offer De Ligt, 24, a five-year contract if he can reach an agreement with Bayern Munich.
The Red Devils will look to play De Ligt on the right side of central defence if he joins the club.
