A man was seriously injured when he was struck with a bat and repeatedly stabbed on a Queens street Friday afternoon, police said.
The beating occurred between two parked cars on 48th Street near 47th Avenue in Sunnyside around 3:50 p.m., police and witnesses said.
“He tried to kill him,” witness Abel Sevilla, 34, said. “After beating him, he stabbed him at least three times in the body and once in the face.”
“I was bleeding a lot,” Sevilla said.
The unidentified man, believed to be in his 30s, suffered five stab wounds to the body, police said. Doctors rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
The victim was accompanied by a woman, witnesses said. “The woman was screaming and crying,” Sevilla said.
Police officers later removed the attacker from a nearby building, Sevilla said. Police said a person of interest in the case was detained.
