Police responding to a domestic violence incident shot dead a man in Yagoona on Sunday morning.
Officers were called to a house on William Street, Yagoona, around 8:50 am Sunday morning after reports of an “incident related to domestic violence”, police said.
When they arrived, an armed man threatened them, they said. Officers first used a taser before an officer fired his firearm. They provided first aid to the man at the scene before the ambulance arrived.
The 29-year-old man was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he died.
The State Crime Command homicide squad will form a critical incidents team to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, including the firing of a firearm, police said.
That investigation will be subject to an independent review.
More to come.
