Man lashes out at McDonald’s Australia over cost of popular menu item compared to US: ‘Ridiculous’

A McDonald’s customer was left furious at the “ridiculous” price of a large Coca-Cola in Australia compared to the United States.

Daniel Amos, who uses the nickname Fleece King online, visited a McDonald’s restaurant in Sydney and was outraged by the amount he spent on the soft drink.

“I just want to express how outrageous I think this is,” he said in a TikTok. video.

‘This is probably a small one in America. I didn’t buy anything other than this Coke and it cost $5.40.

In the short clip, he held up the large Coke and was visibly upset about the cost.

‘And guess what? Unlike the United States, we do not receive refills. “So you buy this large Coke for $5.40 with nothing else and I don’t get any free refills,” Daniel continued.

“That has to be one of the most ridiculous things.”

In comparison, Americans can order a small, medium or large Coca-Cola for $1 USD ($1.51 AUD) on the ‘$1 $2 $3 Dollars Menu’.

“That has to be one of the most ridiculous things,” Daniel declared.

Daniel’s video has since been viewed more than 183,000 times and many McDonald’s fans were on his side, admitting Australians are being “ripped off”.

“Welcome to Australia mate,” one wrote.

“They scam us from the left, from the right and from the center.”

Another wrote: ‘What happened to the dollar frozen Cokes bro?’

But others disagreed.

‘Bro is forgetting that AUD is different from USD. That becomes $3.33, normal price,” one added.

“Yes, but we have free health care,” another pointed out, someone else asked, “Did you tip your waiter?”

One more said bluntly: “Start your own restaurant and tell us how much sodas cost to make it a viable business.”

A McDonald’s Australia spokesperson responded to the complaint.

“We are committed to providing our customers with great value on our menu and exceptional service every day, whether in our restaurants, drive-thru or McDelivery,” the spokesperson told FEMAIL.
