- There are currently no statewide rules that require people to wear face masks
A man lashed out at an elderly woman who asked him to wear a mask during a heated confrontation at a Costco store.
In a video on the spot, the man yells a vigorous tirade at the customer in the Gulf Coast Town Center store in Fort Myers, Florida.
The man, dressed in a red ‘Running the World Since 1776’ shirt – a reference to the American Revolutionary War – approaches the elderly lady and a man who defends her.
He says, “Are you bothering me?” while clenching his fists, the man replies, “I’m not bothering you, you’re getting close to me.”
The unknown man turned around when customers asked why he wasn’t wearing a face mask
The man continues to approach the couple shouting, “I feel threatened, I feel threatened! Backup! Threaten me again! Back the f *** up, put down your f *** ing phone. ‘
He was later escorted from the store, according to Twitter reports.
One of the targeted customers said, “To give the honor to Costco, they escorted him outside and let me wait inside and watch him until he left, then sent someone to the car to check if everything was fine. “
The man angrily approaches the elderly woman clenching his fists before shouting a dirty mouth tirade: ‘Back the f *** up, put your f *** ing phone down’
The video has been viewed more than 518,000 times since, leaving users shocked at the man’s behavior.
One of them said, “He kept saying ‘backwards’. Nobody approached him. ‘
Another wrote: “Shame on the managers of this Costco. Should never have let him in without a mask. Here in Hawaii you have to wear it or they will force you to leave the store. ‘
A Twitter user said no one in the Costco approached the man despite telling customers to ‘withdraw’
Meanwhile, one added, “He seems to feel threatened by nothing. He seems more threatening. ‘
While Governor Ron DeSantis said he has no plans at this time to enact a state-wide mask requirement, some counties do, including Orange County, Miami-Dade County, and Palm Beach County.
And Fort Myers city council members have called on the city to discuss a masking mandate amid escalating coronavirus cases.
An emergency meeting is being held and is expected to take place this week, Fox4 reported.
