A man was shot dead in the suburbs before the suspected getaway car was found burned out 2.5 miles away.
Emergency services were called to John St in Cabramatta, in Sydney’s southwest, about 7pm on Sunday night following reports shots had been fired.
Paramedics treated a man at the scene but were unable to revive him.
A burnt-out car was found shortly afterwards in the nearby suburb of Wakeley.
The alleged gunman remains at large.
New South Wales Police have not yet provided further details.
