Man fights for life with serious head injury after being hit by a Sydney hatchback

A pedestrian suffered serious head injuries when he was hit by a car on a highway in south Sydney.
A 57-year-old man was hit by a Toyota Yaris on the Hume Highway near Highland Avenue in Yagoona at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday.
The man was treated on the spot by paramedics from the NSW Ambulance before being taken to Liverpool Hospital.

The 56-year-old driver was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory tests.
NSW police have identified a crime scene and specialist officers are investigating the circumstances that led to the pedestrian collision.
Two of the three eastbound lanes were closed on the Hume Highway at Highland Ave, but had since reopened.
