Atsu Nable was approached by two men in Germantown this weekend and was asked to take the cap off – a recognizable piece of merchandise from the 2016 Donald Trump presidential campaign.

Montgomery police said in a press release that he had arrested two suspects in connection with the attack on Nable.

Jovan Crawford, 27, from Germantown, and Scott Duncan Roberson, 25, from Washington D.C., were accused of second-degree assault, robbery, conspiracy, and attempted theft.

Crawford was also accused of malicious destruction of property.

According to a police press release in Montgomery, Crawford and Roberson approached Nable on Saturday and started harassing & # 39; & # 39; asking why he was wearing the MAGA hat.

Nable, an American citizen who emigrated from Togo in 2007, replied that he & # 39; was entitled to his own views & # 39; and tried to walk away.

He told FOX5 DC that one of the men hit him from behind.

According to the press release, Crawford and Roberson then defeated Nable and repeatedly told him to remove the hat until he fell to the floor.

They then stole property from the victim and destroyed some of his more valuable possessions before fleeing the scene, so it goes on.

Nable told FOX5 that the couple had destroyed his headphones and tried to steal his cell phone.

He told the station that he had been a Trump supporter for a long time, attended campaign events, and even volunteered to inaugurate the president.

According to the press release, officers who responded to 911 calls arrested the two suspects of a group of children playing basketball, trying to hide.
