A man is fighting for his life after being shot in the lower torso by police in Queensland.

Police attended the residence in Caboolture, north of Brisbane, about 10.30am on Wednesday to conduct a “wanted person investigation”.

When they arrived there were several people on the property, including a man armed with a knife.

CCTV audio from a neighbor’s home captured the dramatic confrontation which lasted about 20 seconds.

“Police, don’t move,” an officer said.

The officers told the man to stand up before one of them yelled “he has a knife.”

“Police, drop the knife, drop the knife,” one officer said.

An officer then fired a single shot from his weapon, striking the knife-wielding man in the abdomen.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics took the man to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
