A man has died after being pulled unconscious from the water at a Sydney surf park.
Emergency services were called to URBNSURF at Sydney Olympic Park shortly before midday on Wednesday after a 70-year-old man fell off his board and was unable to surface.
The man was pulled from the water before CPR could be performed at the scene.
He was taken to Concord Hospital in critical condition, but died shortly after arrival.
In a statement, the surf park said it had temporarily closed the facility after a guest suffered a “medical episode.”
“URBNSURF’s team responded to provide support and care to the guest before paramedics arrived,” they told The Daily Telegraph.
“Our top priority is the health, safety and well-being of our guests and staff and our thoughts are with them at this time.”
The newly opened surf pool has been closed until further notice.
Police are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
The death has not been considered suspicious.
