A man cut off the penis of his wife's rapist after seeing her attack meters away from their home in Ukraine.
The 27-year-old husband was on his way home when he saw the horrible episode in Shevchenkovo, a village in the eastern Kharkiv region.
His wife had left friends at a restaurant around 1 am and was on her way to her house just 300 meters away.
She was walking near her apartment building when a 25-year-old rapist, Dmitry Ivchenko, attacked her from behind.
Dmitry Ivchenko, 25, attacked the woman from behind and dragged her into a bush to carry out the rape before being stopped by her husband
Ivchenko covered her mouth with his hand to prevent her screaming and dragged her into bushes, police said.
The victim's husband left the party ten minutes later. When he reached their apartment building, he heard noise coming from the bushes.
He came closer to find out what was going on and saw Ivchenko squeeze his wife's throat as she raped her.
The husband then attacked the rapist by beating him on the head before he grabbed his Swiss pocket knife and chopped off Ivchenko & # 39; s penis.
Husband's lawyer Dmitry Spaskin told local media: “The husband lost the ability to control his actions. He didn't understand what he was doing. & # 39;
The screams of the rapist and the sobs of the victim woke up all the residents in the area rushing to the stage.
The victim walked near her apartment building after saying goodbye to friends at a nearby restaurant when she was attacked
Her mother immediately reported Ivchenko to the police, while others called an ambulance for him.
Spaskin said: & # 39; After the incident [the man] was in shock and just walked away.
& # 39; He walked about 13 kilometers and reached a neighboring village. There he met an acquaintance and asked him to drive to a police station.
& # 39; On October 13 at 7 am & # 39; In the morning he surrendered to the police and confessed himself completely. & # 39;
The husband was accused of causing serious physical injury and was placed under house arrest.
He said to local media: & # 39; I cannot explain what happened to me at that time. & # 39;
The rapist was admitted to Shevchenko District Hospital and underwent surgery.
Sergey Mitrakov, the head of the surgical unit of the hospital, said: & # 39; The patient needs long-term treatment. & # 39;
Doctors have not speculated about the chances of re-attaching the penis and whether the rapist will regain the full functionality of the organ.
The husband is faced with a maximum of eight years in prison if he is found guilty, while the rapist Dmitry Ivchenko is confronted with a maximum of five years
The police have started a criminal case against rape against the rapist and he remains in the hospital under police control.
Snizhana Vodolazska, a police spokeswoman for the Kupiansk region, said: & The suspect has caught up with her victim at her apartment building and raped her. & # 39;
It is known that Ivchenko is not married and unemployed.
Prosecutor Tetiana Vasileva said: & # 39; The rapist said he had been dumped by his girlfriend a week ago. On the day of the incident, he drank a liter of vodka. He refuses to say more so far. & # 39;
The female residents of the village have expressed their support for the husband.
Hanna Khaustova said: & # 39; Ivchenko tried to hit me, but I told him to stop. Then he said: "You will regret it."
& # 39; I believe that every girl from our village could have been his victim. If he hadn't done it, the rapist would have continued to attack girls. & # 39;
The husband is faced with a maximum of eight years in prison if he is found guilty, while the rapist Dmitry Ivchenko is confronted with a maximum of five years.
The victim of the rapist requires counseling and a long period of psychological recovery, according to local media.
