A man who claims to be Reg Grundy & # 39; s secret love child has joined the battle for the estate of the late $ 900 million television magnate.
Simon Thomas Russell has come forward to claim that he is the son of the famous Australian producer – the man behind shows such as Neighbors and Prisoner – who died in 2016, leaving overseas assets worth $ 800 million and $ 71 million at local level.
Grundy, who also produced the Australian versions of the popular Wheel of Fortune game shows and The Price is Right, was supposed to have conceived only one child, Kim Robin Grundy, now known as Viola La Valette, who was fighting a legal battle for her share in his fortune last year.
She challenged his decision to leave most of his assets to his second wife, Carolyn Joy Chambers-Grundy, and said he was suffering from Alzheimer's when he made that will.
The court heard on Wednesday that Russell has already started the DNA testing process to prove that he is his biological son, The Daily Telegraph reported.

His lawyer, Nicolas Kirby, told the court that DNA samples from both Mr. Grundy and Mr. Russell were kept in a lab.
However, the laboratory cannot perform the testing until it has received a sworn statement from Mrs. Chambers-Grundy, who lives in Bermuda.
According to Kirby, a copy of the sworn statement is on its way to the lab and they expect to have results next week.
Mrs. La Valette, Grundy & # 39; s daughter with first wife Patricia Lola Powell, challenged Chambers for her piece of her father's estate.
La Valette pursues access to documents about her father's mental state and health in the run-up to his death.
After her lawsuit, friends of the Grundy family came forward to say that they had never heard of the daughter of the TV legend, A Current Affair reported in 2017.
She had not spoken to her father 22 years ago until his death.
The value of a 1.6-hectare property in Bermuda, presumably the palatial Idolwood Lagoon Estate, is expected to be questioned during the proceedings.

Grundy was behind some long-celebrated soap operas and game shows such as Sons and Daughters, The Young Doctors, The Restless Years, Sale or The Century and Neighbors.
He also produced ABBA: The Movie alongside Stig Anderson, and was known to keep his private life out of the public eye.
After marrying his first wife in his & # 39; 20 and divorcing her year later, Grundy lived with his daughter Kim, and his mother in the & # 39; 60 while building his television empire.
Mr. Grundy met Joy, an author and actress, when she was a panel member of the game show I have a secret and married her four years later in 1971.

She went to the star in various soaps of her husband, including The Restless Years, The Doctors and Neighbors.
Mrs. Grundy continues to live in the sprawling Bermuda mansion of the couple. However, she briefly returned to Sydney for the appearance of the court.
The couple moved to Bermuda in the early 1980s and they were there together the day he died.
In 1983, Mr. Grundy was appointed Officer in the Order of the British Empire, and became a Companion of the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honors in 2008.
He also obtained his PhD in 2004 at the University of Queensland.
