Man City players ‘believe Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho WILL be leaving’ this summer … as Pep Guardiola waits until the end of the season to figure out the future of the two title winners

  • Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero no longer have a contract with Man City this summer
  • Pep Guardiola has previously said the talks will take place at the end of the season
  • City’s players reportedly believe the two former title winners will now leave

Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero will leave Manchester City this summer in front of their teammates, according to a new report.

Both players are out of contract at the end of the season and the Athletic report The city’s squad believes that Aguero and Fernandinho, two mainstays of their title-winning teams in recent years, will disappear.

Fernandinho, who turns 36 in May, reportedly has several offers on the table when he leaves City. Aguero saw his season devastated by injury, but he is also thought to be a much sought-after man.

A return to Atletico Paranaense for Fernandinho, his first club back in Brazil, has been mooted as an option to see his later years in the game.

His influence on the field has diminished. He is City’s 17th most used player this season, but as a captain, his impact off the field has been massive.

Away from the public eye, City trusted him as never before and as such it should come as no surprise to see them fight to keep him.

“I focused on Man City,” said Fernandinho TNT Sports last month. ‘I know how much my teammates need me.

‘I have made the decision not to decide about my future until the season is over. I already had an offer not to join Pep’s staff, but to become an employee of the club.

“I was flattered after eight years at Man City and the respect I’ve gained here, but it’s a decision I’m putting aside.”

For Aguero, clubs like Barcelona and Inter Milan continue to monitor his situation.

Sportsmail exclusive revealed that earlier this month Aguero fears his City career will end.

Agüero, the greatest goalscorer in City history and the man whose goal was the club’s breakthrough in the Premier League in 2012, is frustrated by a lack of clarity about his future.

The Argentinian has delivered an outstanding performance over the past decade, scoring 254 goals since his £ 35 million transfer from Atletico Madrid.

City manager Pep Guardiola said earlier that he couldn’t think about making new contract decisions for Aguero or Fernandinho, as he doesn’t want to be ‘distracted’ while trying to win four trophies.

A famous quadruple bid remains possible with City in the Carabao Cup final, FA Cup semi-finals, Champions League quarter-finals and comfortably at the top of the Premier League.
