A man needed a hospital treatment after two men wearing balaclavas attacked him in a lay-by.

The attack occurred from the B8084 / Station Road at the intersection of Southdale Way in Armadale, West Lothian, on Sunday around 3.40 pm.

The two suspects left the area in a blue Audi with a personalized sign, which was parked in the lay-by, direction Whitburn.

The police were called after the man was seen who was attacked.

Officers found the 31-year-old victim in the area.

He was taken to the St John's Hospital in Livingston by ambulance, where he was treated for facial injuries.

Detective Constable Ally Urquhart, from Livingston CID, said: "We continue to work on establishing the circumstances surrounding this incident and urge anyone who witnesses it to contact us.

"Everyone who travels around the area around this time with dashcam recordings or who has other relevant information is also asked to come forward."

The two suspects wore dark clothes and balaclavas.
