A man and child have died in a horrific early morning crash on the New South Wales mid north coast.
Emergency services were rushed to The Buckets Way in Tugrabakh following reports of a single vehicle accident at around 3am.
An SUV went off the road and crashed into an embankment, police said.
“The driver of the vehicle, aged around 40, and a young woman of unknown age died at the scene,” police said.
‘Two young children, ages unknown, were trapped in the vehicle for some time, before being freed with the help of NSW Fire and Rescue crews.

“They were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
The victims of the crash have not yet been formally identified, police added, and investigators have recommended that the circumstances of the crash be investigated.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
New South Wales has recorded 269 road deaths in 2024.
