Emergency services were called to the Como Crescent’s home at about 5pm after neighbors complained of a disturbance.

Officers arrived on the scene and did not find the 25-year-old woman. She was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was arrested in Oxley just after midnight, with the baby also located. He was taken to Crestmead Police Station.

They will claim that the man strangled the woman before taking the young child.

A gray Mazda CX9 has been seized by police and they are currently investigating the vehicle as part of their investigation.

The man was charged with grievous bodily harm and strangulation.

He objected to his bail and will appear in court on Monday at Richlands Magistrates Court.
