This is the shocking moment when a man spits at a bus driver during the height of the third coronavirus lockout, as he has been imprisoned for more than four months.
Michael Aidoo, 44, declined to pay a fare when he boarded a bus on Queens Road in Peckham, south London, on Feb. 13, a court heard.
He tried to walk past the driver and when challenged became insulting. CCTV footage shows him pulling down his mask and spitting at the key worker before getting off the bus again.
Aidoo appeared before the Croydon Magistrates’ Court today and pleaded guilty to a general assault. He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.

A protective screen prevented the spit from reaching the driver, who used a cotton swab to take a sample that he gave to officers at the Lewisham Police Department.
The DNA turned out to be a direct match to Aidoo’s and he was arrested on March 24 by officers from Safer Transport Teams at Vauxhall train station.
Aidoo, without a permanent address, was also ordered in court to pay a victim allowance of £ 128.
Detective Sergeant Ian Beattie said: “This was a disgusting act against a key worker who provided an essential service during the lockdown.
“Being spit out is completely unacceptable and it is right that Aidoo has been given a prison sentence to reflect the seriousness of this crime.
‘Spitting is always a shame, but in the middle of a pandemic it’s even more shocking. We do not tolerate such behavior. ‘
