A man told me last night how he & # 39; the will to live & # 39; lost after his wife drowned their two-year-old twins in the bath.
Samantha Ford, 38, killed little Jake and Chloe on Boxing Day last year after being separated from their father Steven a few months in advance.
The distraught parent, 36, said he begged the police to tell him it wasn't true after he heard about their murders.
& # 39; I'll never forget that day, I just lost the will to live. I begged them to tell me: "This is not true, this has not happened." I almost begged them to tell me that this was not real, & he said The Sunday Times.
Loving father: Steven Ford (with little Jake and Chloe) said he & # 39; wants to live & # 39; lost after his wife drowned their two-year-old twins
Mr. Ford – who had long been longing to get older – said he felt that the goal in life was broken when he heard that his wife had killed them
Samantha Ford, 38, killed their children last December before trying to take her own life, but was unsuccessful
& # 39; Losing one child is terrible. Losing both children is torture. But losing your children is incomprehensible because the other person who should have protected them with their own lives had taken over theirs. & # 39;
The distraught father, longing to age, said that the day the twins were born was the best of his life.
& # 39; I was floating … It's great. It is your own flesh and blood for you. And I had that twice. & # 39;
Ford said that the birth of the twins gave his life's purpose and that he was willing to drop everything and devote all his time to them.
But his world was taken away from him last December 27.
His wife drowned the 23-month-old children in the bath after their marriage failed before trying to kill herself by driving her Ford Galaxy at 100 km / h in the back of a truck without a seat belt. She suffered from acute depression.
The twins were found dead in their beds in the early hours of December 27 after Mrs. Ford was involved in a crash on the A299

When the police managed to open the doors of her vehicle, she said to them: & I killed my baby & # 39; s. Please let me die.
& # 39; I bathed them. We are destined to be together. I'd jump off a cliff, but it's too dark. & # 39;
As she was taken to the hospital, the police attended the address she rented at Castle Drive, Margate, where they found the two toddlers in their bedroom in diapers and a clean, dry baby grows.
Attempts were made to revive them, but rigor mortis had already begun.
At the hospital, Ford was described as hysterical, shouting: "I wouldn't hurt them, it's my baby". This is a dream. & # 39; Allegedly she asked the staff to throw her off a cliff.
Ford denied murder, but admitted two counts of manslaughter on the grounds of reduced responsibility at a hearing in May.

At her Friday hearing, the Old Bailey heard that Ford and her husband had lived in Qatar for the first 10 years of their marriage and their children were born by IVF while living there.
But the relationship became sour after they returned to the UK in early 2018 and moved to the village of Charing in Kent, the court heard.
Ford was angry at leaving her rich lifestyle in the Middle East, the Old Bailey heard, and it was said that she was trying to put pressure on her husband to return to Qatar – which led to their split in November 2018.
In a message to Mr. Ford, she said: & You have torn apart my world now that we are nothing but a miserable, broken family growing up in a mess. & # 39;
Relatives said Ford's mental health deteriorated rapidly after the divorce and that she sent several text messages to her estranged husband to persuade him to return to her, the court heard.
The court heard that her mental health deteriorated rapidly after the divorce and that she searched several times on the internet for different suicide methods.
She also googled terms such as & # 39; young mother killing herself & # 39; and & # 39; mother drowns her two children and then commits suicide & # 39 ;.
Brenda Campbell QC, for Ford, said there was 76 communication between Ford and mental health in the weeks prior to the murders.
By Christmas her family decided that her mental health was so bad that Ford Ford had to take the twins and bring them back on Boxing Day, the court heard.
Ford believes his wife killed their children to punish him for not wanting to be with her
Ford drowned them later that evening after her parents left the house.
In a victim impact statement, Mr. Ford said he thought his children were terrified, confused and that they were & # 39; would have been in death.
He said: & # 39; This was the most heinous, hateful act of two innocent children. I have no doubt (Ford) with the intention of taking her own life and punishing myself. & # 39;
He added: & # 39; I know how she behaves when things don't go her way and when she doesn't get what she wants. & # 39;
& # 39; It's an extreme version of her character because she couldn't get her own sentence – knowing how much I loved the kids, she knew it would be the ultimate punishment for me not to go back to her. & # 39;
Dr. Muzzaffar Hussain, a forensic psychiatrist consultant who treats Ford at Trevor Gibbens Hospital in Maidstone, Kent, said her actions can be attributed to a & # 39; narcissistic anger & # 39; humiliation observed by her at the hands of her husband.
& # 39; There is a sense of being mocked by him that played a role, & # 39; he said.
Dr. Hussain also described her & # 39; sense of right & # 39; and said: & # 39; Her experience of the self is that good things that happen are attributed to the self and bad things that happen are attributed to others. & # 39;
He said that Ford has a & # 39; murder / suicide fantasy & # 39; had experienced and said: & # 39; That, I think, was in play as a way of retaliation and punishment from Mr. Ford for leaving her – a sense of & # 39; this is what you made me do & # 39;. & # 39;
The court heard that Ford had spoken in the hospital about voices telling her to kill the children – allegations she hadn't made before she was admitted to the hospital.
& # 39; Unfortunately, I think it's a wish to look more seriously ill than she & # 39 ;, he said.
& # 39; I do not deny that she is sick, but I think there is a wish to come across as more serious unwell than she is and there is a part of it that has colored the story a bit. & # 39;
Mr. Justice Edis will be sentenced on August 16 after evidence of further psychiatric witnesses.
