A newly-married man hung himself while trying to get a baby with his wife, an investigation has been heard.

Jack Gilbert, 28, and his wife of a year Gemma had to undergo IVF after she had contracted three miscarriages.

But three days before they started the course, the couple – who had just celebrated their first wedding anniversary – followed a line in which they blocked their calls and text messages.

Mr. Gilbert, a furniture maker, was later found dead in his mother's house in Adswood, near Stockport in Greater Manchester.

Research showed that Gilbert had gone to watch the World Cup in the second round between England and Colombia in the hours before the tragedy.

Video's of him who are included on the night of the contest, show him & # 39; so happy & # 39; and singing and cheering – but tests showed that he had used cocaine.

A survey in Stockport found that the Gilberts were married in July 2017 in the luxury Tudor Hall in Hale Barns near Altrincham and were trying to try a baby soon.

Mrs. Gilbert, who was in her twenties, said in a statement: "We had a swirling romance. Jack had a little boy named Archie with his ex-girlfriend and we've seen him a lot.

"He introduced me to Tenerife and we got married at Tudor Hall in Hale Barns. We had a few ups and downs, we tried a baby.

& # 39; In February 2018 we lost a baby and Jack left for three days and did not answer my phone calls or text messages. On 3 July 2018 we quarreled again and he called me names and checked my phone.

I told him he had no right. I said something like & # 39; get it out of your system & # 39; and told him to come back when we were on the same wavelength.

I met him in the pub and he seemed happy to see me. When we left, I told him that my brother was angry about the way he had treated me. He was really angry and just went back to the pub.

& # 39; I spoke to him the next morning and we quarreled. I spent the day with a friend and wanted to clear my head. I did not find out that he died until I turned on my phone at 23:00.

& # 39; He never indicated that he would injure himself. We had just celebrated our first wedding party and hoped to start our own family. & # 39;

The mother of Mr. Gilbert, Michelle Mulvihill, told the hearing: "Jack was a nice person. He was very popular and kind-hearted. He worked hard and had a lot of friends.

& # 39; He was a big part of our family. We were always together, all of us. He was a great father. I thought he had no problems with his mental health at all. He was a happy, cheerful person.

& # 39; He married about a year before he died with Gemma. They had had a fight, they would start IVF on Saturday. Gemma had three miscarriages, so there was considerable stress.

& # 39; But the arguments were nothing more than you would expect. He had just won a gigantic contract at his work. Everything went great. He drank alcohol only on weekends, just like any other 28-year-old. & # 39;

Recalling the days leading up to the tragedy, she added: & # 39; On July 3, I came home from work and my eldest daughter asked me if she could take me for tea. Jack called me and asked if I could come get him. I would never say no to him, that night I told him I was going to drink tea.

"He said he was already in the pub with a few friends watching the match in England, but said his suitcase was in my home for good. It was about 8 o'clock when I told him to make his own way home.

I called after the game to see if he wanted to grab him, but he did not pick him up. There are video's of him that evening when they had won and was singing and cheering, he looks so happy.

& # 39; When I got up the next morning to go to work, I looked into the bedroom and was not there. I had called him all morning and came to him in the afternoon, he only said that he had stayed at a friend's house.

"He sounded tired, but nothing that I would not expect. He also talked to his sister on the phone, I just said that he had to take some rest.

& # 39; I came home from my work around 6 pm. I went to the bedroom and the bed looked like it was pretty confused as if someone had been there but he was not there. Then I found him in the bathroom. & # 39;

The hearing was told that Mr. Gilbert's house records show that he has never reported symptoms of depression or anxiety and has never prescribed medication for his mental health.

Toxicologist Julie Evans said: "We found evidence for alcohol, but he was not heavily intoxicated at the time of his death. But we also found evidence of cocaine – the kind of level you would see in recreational use. It is very likely that I have been using the last 12 hours.

& # 39; As the stimulant effects diminish, it can lead to depression and a bad mood. We see cocaine fairly regularly in a suspicion of self-harm. & # 39;

Rita Wilkinson, a senior policeman at the Greater Manchester Police, told the hearing: "Jack was found hanging in the bathroom at his mother's address. There were no indications for medication on him or in the bedroom. No note was found and no indication.

We could not call his phone, but no one has come forward to say that he has sent messages that are worrying or disconcerting. We know that his wife had blocked his calls and messages that day. & # 39;

With a narrative conclusion, corpse specialist Chris Morris said: "This is a tragic case in which a man who was a very beloved husband, son and father, suddenly died. He and his wife of one year had tried to start a family of their own and his life was clearly subject to ups and downs.

No one worried that he was particularly moody or that he would harm himself. I accept the evidence that he has used cocaine in the 12 hours prior to his death and have heard that cocaine can be associated with depressive episodes and self-harm.

& # 39; No evidence was found that suggests that Mr. Gilbert had planned to take his own life. There was no evidence of a previous incident or persistent psychological problems.

Cocaine can also influence the ability to form an intention. He probably used cocaine in the hours prior to his death, but there was no evidence for a persistent intention to cause his own death. & # 39;
