A ten-month-old girl is in a critical condition at the hospital after a man shot her in the head after the child's mother rejected him at a party, police said.
Marcos Antonio Echartea, 23, was arrested Sunday in Fresno on suspicion of three counts of attempted murder.

Marcos Antonio Echartea was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of three counts of attempted murder of the child and her mother, Fayth Percy, (pictured together) and a friend
The child, Fayth Percy, is in a critical but stable state and has undergone surgery on Sunday to remove bullet fragments from her head, according to Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
Chief Dyer added: & we are very lucky that she is still alive. It tears my heart to see a baby of that age in the hospital. & # 39;
Police concluded that the incident occurred about a week ago in a neighborhood in northern California.
The suspect would have tried to hold the mother's hand, but 18-year-old Mr. Deziree refused his advance payments and left the party.
Just before leaving, Echartea apparently tried to pull the woman onto his lap.
The mother reportedly told people what had happened before they got into a car with a friend and drove a block away before they saw Echartea & # 39; walk quickly toward the car & # 39 ;.

Fresno Police chief Jerry Dyer said the suspect is currently firing his gun at the car three times and hitting the child while being held by her mother.
Menagh's friend called the police as he drove Fayth to a hospital and assisted officers who were nearby until the ambulance arrived after the friend stopped his vehicle.
Echartea was arrested near where the party took place later that day.
& # 39; We hope and pray that Baby Fayth will be able to survive and fully recover from this injury, & # 39; said Dyer. & # 39; I know the parents are broken. They hurt. & # 39;
The police chief added that the 23-year-old is a suspect in another shooting in May, shooting in a new house of an ex-girlfriend and breaking into a wall.
The bullet, police said, came within a foot of hitting a one-year-old at the property.
Echartea is now confronted with multiple criminal charges, including attempted murder and firing in an inhabited home.
